A tragic ATV accident in Jerome County, Idaho, has claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy, leaving his family and community grieving a heartbreaking loss. The fatal incident occurred on Monday, July 13, on private property, according to the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:45 p.m. after receiving a report that a young boy had been thrown from an all-terrain vehicle and seriously injured. While emergency personnel were en route, dispatchers were informed that the child was no longer breathing, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement, firefighters, and paramedics.
Investigators determined that the 11-year-old was operating the ATV with his 8-year-old brother riding as a passenger. The brothers were traveling on property owned by their family when the ATV struck a small hill. The impact caused the driver to lose control, and the vehicle overturned.
Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by Jerome County sheriff’s deputies, St. Luke’s emergency medical personnel, and members of Jerome Rural Fire, the 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
His younger brother survived the crash and was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Officials said the child sustained minor injuries and was later released.
During the preliminary investigation, authorities confirmed that neither child was wearing a helmet at the time of the rollover. The incident remains under investigation as officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
