A respected Chartered Accountant, accomplished business executive, devoted family man, and dedicated philanthropist, Ross leaves behind a remarkable legacy of professional excellence, community service, and unwavering integrity.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in April 1939, Ross grew up in several communities across British Columbia. A gifted athlete in his youth, he excelled in track and field, football, baseball, skiing, and water sports. Those experiences reflected the determination and discipline that would define both his personal and professional life.
Ross began his accounting career in 1956 before earning his Chartered Accountant designation in 1962 with Peat Marwick and Mitchell. Over the following decades, he rose through the ranks to become Managing Partner of the Vancouver office and later Managing Partner for British Columbia following the formation of KPMG. Widely admired for his honesty, leadership, and sound judgment, he guided major clients while helping shape one of Canada’s leading accounting firms.
Following his retirement in 1998, Ross remained an influential figure in the corporate world, serving on the boards of numerous prominent organizations, including Canfor Corporation, HSBC Bank Canada, the Jim Pattison Group, Kal Tire, K-Bro Linen, Marsh Canada, and the University of British Columbia Board of Governors. He was equally committed to charitable causes, contributing decades of service to organizations supporting education, libraries, youth development, the arts, and community initiatives.
Above all, Ross treasured his family. He shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diane, and was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He found great joy in traveling, spending time in Whistler and Kelowna, and creating lasting memories with those he loved.
