Authorities have identified the three victims who lost their lives in a tragic single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning after a pickup truck overturned into a canal in Belle Glade.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 7:19 a.m. in the 1200 block of Gator Boulevard. Investigators said a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound when, for reasons that have not yet been determined, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Officials reported that the truck crossed into the westbound lane before the driver attempted to correct its path. The vehicle then rotated clockwise, left the roadway, and overturned into a nearby canal, where it came to rest upside down beneath the water.
The driver, identified as Joel Rodriguez Roa, 48, along with two young passengers—an 11-year-old boy and a 5-year-old boy—were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but all three occupants succumbed to their injuries before they could be rescued.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, mechanical failure, weather conditions, or a medical emergency played a role in the crash.
